Are you inspired by fresh spring decorating ideas or love to use the color green in your home? You are going to love adding more green home decor this year with these 12+ marvelous ideas!
With March and Saint Patrick’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to round up a few of my favorite green home decor inspirations to share with you here today. But honestly, decorating with green decor can be beautiful any time of the year!
Whether you’ve been thinking about painting a sage green accent wall, trying out some green furniture, or just want to incorporate more greenery into your decor, this post is for you.
Tips for Decorating with Green Home Decor
Incorporating green accents can feel daunting if you’ve never used much green in your home decor or are just starting to move away from a more neutral color palette.
But there are so many ways to decorate a home with green – and so many green colors to choose from!
Here are a few of my best tips for using green home decor ideas:
Choose a Green Color Palette
Start by selecting a few shades of green that resonate with your style and preferences. Consider choosing various tones, from soft pastels to deep, moody shades for a versatile look you can use throughout your home.
I have two favorite greens in home decor colors that I embrace.
Nantucket Gray by Benjamin Moore, which we painted our inside home’s trim and kitchen at our home in Maine.
It’s a very soft green-gray. Some may say it’s gray; it’s that soothing.
Essex Green by Benjamin Moore is a deep dark green and a historical color that we used to paint the outside trim on our cedar shakes home with HERE.
It’s often seen in small New England towns like Dorset, Vermont, where the downtown homes are all painted white with Essex Green trim.
Find the Best Complementary Colors for Green Home Decor
Green paint and home decor can go with many different colors and home finishes, but it can take some trial and error to figure out the best complementary colors for the specific shades of green you’re using.
Combining green with colors like crisp whites, blues, pinks, and corals often works well, but green can also look lovely with warm, creamy off-white, beige, and black colors.
Whenever possible, test green paint colors and green decor in your space before making any final decorating decisions.
Incorporate Green Throughout Your Home
One of the best ways to make a design element – like green home decor – look cohesive is by incorporating it in multiple places throughout your home.
Try a green accent wall in one room and add fresh (or faux) house plants in another. A pop of green in throw pillows on a couch or bed is another simple way to incorporate green home decor.
As always, your personal taste plays a crucial role in any home decor you choose. So, adapt these suggestions to suit your unique style.

One of my favorite colors! Thanks for all the lovely photos.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! We need a little green inspiration these days I felt:)
I consider green the perfect “neutral” color. When I first started my decorating journey I used a lot of blue, even in the rugs and draperies I purchased. I loved it until fall and Christmas rolled around, when I craved other palettes. Eventually I replaced the blue base pieces with green, and other neutral colors like beige, cream, white, etc. Now I find that I can add any seasonal decor in any color and it works well with the green. I tend to bring out my blue accent pieces (vases, pillows, throws, etc.) in the summer now so I still get to enjoy those. Just as I love the changing seasons here in the northeast, I love that I can use various color palettes through the seasons with green remaining an anchor color, and as I said, in my opinion the perfect neutral!
Diane, your green plans sound so well thoughtful. I feel that way with blues and I have always adored green, too especially in outdoor decor. Our entire front porch is in green and our Maine home house trim is green. Just love it. Thanks for your kind note and helpful green tips!
