This Season's Thrifting Scoop

Stay ahead of your thrifting decor game with Thrifting with the Gals. Explore the hottest thrifting trends in second-hand shopping and uncover hidden gems.

Thrifting decor trends have gained immense popularity in recent years as we embrace sustainable and budget-friendly options for decorating our homes. Thrifting refers to the act of shopping at thrift stores, flea markets, or secondhand shops to find unique and pre-loved items. This trend encompasses a wide range of styles, from vintage and retro to bohemian and eclectic. By incorporating thrifted decor into your home, one can add a touch of character, history, and individuality to spaces. It also allows you to find one-of-a-kind pieces that cannot be easily replicated in mass-produced home decor stores. Thrifting decor trends encourage creativity and offer an opportunity to repurpose and upcycle items, giving them a new lease on life. Moreover, thrifting promotes sustainability by reducing waste and extending the lifespan of items that would otherwise end up in landfills. Overall, thrifting decor trends provide a unique and eco-friendly approach to home decoration while allowing us to express our personal style.

As I sit here cozy in front of the fireplace at our home here in coastal Maine, the snow is falling outside. You know that really light, fine snow that is so peaceful? And my mind is swirling about what I can share with you this month for our favorite reader’s blog series, Thrifting with the Gals.

So I have chosen to share with you a sorted collection of thrifting trends that I have been seeing from my little corner of the world…

Sorted Collections Are The Thrifting Trend

From what I have seen so far, sorted collections seem to be the biggest thrifting trend in second-hand shops this year. And I have to say, I love them all!

If you are looking to start a sorted collection, this may just be the year for you.

White is always in.

Like these sorted collections of white porcelain pitchers. White is always in and easy to find. Decorate your bookshelves, open kitchen shelving and dresser’s with sorted collections of collected white porcelain pieces.

With sorted collections being the thrifting trend and so abundant this year, I think I’ll start a few vision boards to refer to the next time I’m out Thrifting with the Gals.

Do you know what this thrifting trend is?

Hint; I took this photo in Saratoga, NY, while we were there visiting overnight for my birthday in late January.

The Numbers Have It

On several of the trees at the Saratoga Horse Race Track, Paddocks are metal signs with numbers that correspond to the horse. That way, horse #1 in the upcoming race goes to the tree with sign #1—and so do the horse’s jockey, trainer, and connections—and so forth.

Vintage Ski Lodge Decor Trend

Over the holidays and through this winter, I’ve really been embracing the vintage ski lodge decor trend. I even created this Vintage Ski Lodge Decor Series for you here on the blog.

It’s been so much fun thrifting and decorating with this classic winter trend this year:

  3. DeeDee Clark says:

I guess it was in the late 80s, I found band aid tins with MIckey Mouse, Barney, the Purple dinosaur, and many other TV and movies characters. I had them on a shelf in my bathroom. One of our grand daughters who was about 3 was fascinated with band aids. She would go into the bathroom, get a band aid, stick it on herself, then in a minute take it off. It took me a bit to realize how many band aids she wasted. I had to put the tins where she couldn’t reach them.

    1. What a fabulous memory DeeDee. I love that❣️
