Vintage Market Days Vermont
The October Vermont Vintage Market Days is one of my favorite markets to attend. It is set in the beautiful mountains of Vermont during peak foliage season.
The vendors are amazing, the food is yummy, the music is inspiring, the parking is convenient, and it’s never that crowded on the first day’s event, Friday.

On the Hunt For…
Today, I was specifically thrifting for a vintage cobbler rack, some wooden soup bowls, and any other good deals that may come my way.
Vintage Cobbler Rack
Right as I walked into Vintage Market Days I spied this vintage cobbler rack at a fairly affordable price. But I wanted to walk the market before quickly settling on this one.
I didn’t see another one like it anywhere, though.
This one was super sturdy, and the wheels were in great mobility condition. It also has a charming patina and should clean up nicely.
I plan to refinish it with my favorite Restor-A-Finish and use it as a display in my window booth at The Vintage Soul. You may also enjoy the post How to Refinish a Wood Table in Less Than 1 Hour.

UPDATE \ Cobbler Rack
Here is the refinished cobbler rack using Restor-A-Finish Pine-Maple and Feed-N-Wax. My go-to for easily and quickly brightening up vintage furniture pieces.
This old cobbler rack is now ready to display beautiful antique dishes at my window booth at The Vintage Soul. You may also enjoy the post, How to Start a Vintage Booth Business.

What’s Trending?
I like to see what’s on trend at every market I go to, especially now that the holiday season is upon us. You may also enjoy the Vintage Marketplace: Infinite Unique Decor post.
Silver Flatware
One thing that was immediately evident was sterling silver and silver-plated flatware sets. They were everywhere! Beautiful sets wrapped in bows, boxed sets, and, of course, the traditional flatware jewelry.
So, if you want to dress up your table this holiday season, vintage silver flatware is in!

Crates
There were so many vintage crates at affordable prices. I loved this old pie plate rack, as an example. It would be super cute in a farmhouse or country kitchen.
Or maybe in a home office for letters, bills, and office supplies.

Retro Decor
I feel like retro is always in.
Starting with retro glassware collections.
These are really making a comeback, seeing collections like this one everywhere at the market.
SHOP THE LOOK
This orange rattan chair and suitcase are so 70s and super fun together.
And how about this little vintage camper with retro camping gear like Skotch coolers and plaid blankets?

Wooden Bowls
I did find a few small wooden bowls that I was after, selling for $8.
But I was really looking for something darker for a wood and white fall tablescape.
Vintage Linens
Vintage linens are another classic trend. Is that an oxymoron? 🙂
I picked up 6 of these beautiful purple-blue linen napkins for just $2 a piece for my fall tables.

After a busy morning at the Vintage Market Days Vermont, it was time for lunch. They have so many yummy food trucks to choose from, including this Apple Cider Slushee truck.
Have you ever had an Apple Cider Slushee? So good!

Jack Jumper
I think my favorite find of all, though was this antique Jack Jumper that I scored for $50.
It will be my prize possession as part of my Vintage Ski Lodge Decor Series coming again this winter.
What is a Jack Jumper?
“The earliest Jack jumpers were made in New England in the mid-to-late 1800s. While many early Jack Jumpers were homemade, Jack Jumpers that were manufactured in the late 1800s can be found in museums and private collections. The oldest patent issued for a Jack Jumper goes back to 1914. There are many legends as to the origins of Jack Jumping.
Some claim the earliest ones were made from barrel staves for skis and handcrafted wooden posts and seats. These Jack Jumpers are said to be used by loggers. Others say it originated as a toy for children to enjoy in the winter. Whatever the case of origin, both adults and children alike have enjoyed Jack Jumpers for over a century.” Source Wikipedia
I’ve seen them selling for upwards of $350 online, like this one here on Etsy.

Aww thank you kindly Connie!
Ann, Jack Jumpers or ” Jack Skis” can be seen around VT. I often see them at Bolton Valley Ski Area . Many young people craft their own! I really like the antique one you found out the market. I hope to get to Vintage Market Days next spring!
Yes! Although I’ve never seen anyone using one, I did know they were native to Vermont and heard Bolton Valley is popular with them. I understand too that Stratton has competitions with them to this day. It was such a fun find! I can’t wait to have it decorated on our porch this winter and Christmas season.
So what exactly does one do with a jack jumper? Did I miss that? Lovely show, lots of trending things I already have. 😬
You sit on it and slide down a mountain on it in the snow. They have competitions with them to this day.:)
This looks like it was fun!!!
Wow, it looks like it was a great show! And the weather looked spectacular! I wish I lived closer so I could have joined you!
It’s always such a fun time and so many goodies!
