Let’s Make a Homespun Vintage Booth Wall Display

My love for vintage plates is truly endless!

It’s hard to resist these little beauties when I see them in thrift shops and antique stores.

From pink to blue and in all their various patterns and styles.

But what to do with them all?

Then I came up with the idea to make some into Dishy Kitchen Hooks.

I’m hooked!

Now, I want to sell these adorable plates designed into the cutest decor hooks in my vintage window booth, which you can see more of in the posts, How to Start a Vintage Booth Business and Vintage Booth Winter Window Display.

But how do we display them?

I picked up this batch of little plates while out Thrifting with the Gals and turned them into “Dishy Kitchen Hooks.” Watch this video to see more.

Let’s Design a Wall Display

What you will need:

• Shutter
• Thumbtacks
• Hanging Screws
• Wire
• Wire Cutters

I picked up this Picture Hanging Assortment that included what I needed for this vintage booth wall display.

A Vintage Wooden Shutter

I’m using a vintage wooden shutter that I found while Thrifting with the Gals as my backdrop.

Let’s first start by creating this wall display’s hanger so it will fasten securely onto a wall.

Attach the screw with the round open top to each top side of the shutter.

Next, grab your wire and thread it through the first screw, wrapping it tightly as shown above. Click on photos to enlarge if you need to.

Pull the wire tight and thread it through the second screw creating a wire hanger on the back of the shutter.

Now that you have your wire hanger on the shutter turn the shutter over and place your thumbtacks where you want your plates to hang. This shutter holds 8 little dishes on one side.

I chose to use thumbtacks instead of nails because, as an FYI, the thumbtacks easily pushed into the rungs, whereas the nails did not.

Why are walls so important in an antique Booth?

My vintage booth is in a shop window, so I have very limited wall space to hang displays. I will also hang my little plate hooks from the other side so they may be seen inside and outside the window.

Wall space can be such a huge benefit when it comes to vintage booths. I love being in the window, but it definitely has its challenges when it comes to wall space.

I love the texture and charm that an old shutter adds as the backdrop for these homemade Dishy Kitchen Hooks That You Can Make in Minutes.

I’ll probably use various shutter styles and colors, too, to match the newest dishy kitchen hooks.

Such an easy and versatile window display for vintage booths.
