My Mother’s Pewter Collection

My mother adored antique pewter pieces in all their rustic charms.

My mother had a gorgeous and extensive pewter collection that I thought you would all enjoy. As you browse the photos, you will notice many dents and scratches on almost all of the pieces.

Pewter is a very soft metal alloy; therefore, it dents and bends very easily, giving it that old-world vibe that so many love.

These small sugar and salt shakers are simply the cutest little pewter finds.  And my mother would display and use these on all of her holiday tables.

Wedding Pewter Goblets

In my mother’s favorite hutch, I found six of these pewter goblets, each with the letter “C” engraved on it.

My mother had often gifted pewter as wedding gifts over the years, too.

Pewter mugs, goblets, ashtrays, pitchers, candlesticks, candle snuffers, platters, plates, and sugar bowls of all sizes adorned my mother’s pewter collection.

My mother displayed her pewter collection in a favorite antique hutch and also had so many pieces tucked in nooks and crannies all over the home.

I don’t think she could have left an antique store without bringing home a piece of pewter.

Another favorite pewter piece is this carousel of antique glasses.  My mother would put this out on the coffee table with the offering of Sherry after every family Thanksgiving.

American Pewter Book

As a lover and collector of vintage books, I wasn’t that surprised when I found this American Pewter book written by J.B. Kerfoot amongst my mother’s collections—it had been used in many an American Pewter Collectors’ Club.

Pewter Collection Value

The value of a pewter collection can vary greatly depending on several factors. These factors include the rarity and age of the items, their condition, the manufacturer or maker’s mark, and the current demand in the market.

Some antique pewter items, especially those from renowned makers or with unique designs, can fetch a higher value among collectors. Additionally, pewter pieces that are in excellent condition, with minimal wear or damage, are generally more desirable and valuable.

The market demand for pewter collectibles can also influence their value. If there is a high demand for a particular style or era of pewter, the prices may increase. Conversely, if the demand is low or there is a surplus of similar items on the market, the value may be lower.

It is important to note that the value of a pewter collection is subjective and can vary from buyer to buyer. Some collectors may be willing to pay a premium for specific items, while others may not value them as much. To get a more accurate estimate of the value of a pewter collection, it is recommended to consult with antique dealers, appraisers, or specialized collectors in the field.
