What is Witchy Decor?

The witchy decor is all about curating a mystical and enchanting atmosphere rooted in the witchcore aesthetic.

It blends dark, moody tones with magical accents like candles, crystal balls, and vintage items to create the perfect pieces for a captivating witchy look.

Vintage Mannequins

Using old mannequins in this style is a creative idea that adds an eerie and unique touch to any space. With their worn and timeless features, these mannequins become a perfect canvas for dressing in witchy attire, cloaks, and accessories, elevating the mystical energy of your witchy decor.

I love decorating with old mannequin dress forms, do you?

Vintage mannequins can add a unique, artistic touch to home decor, serving as conversation pieces and sculptural elements. They can be repurposed creatively, from bedroom decor to witchy decor based upon the seasons and a little thrift store garb.

We’ve all seen the Halloween skeleton decor rage, but how about replacing those skeletons with a mannequin this year?

If you don’t own a mannequin, you can find mannequins on Amazon for much less than the price of a Halloween skeleton.

Once you have your mannequin, it’s time to dress it with a whimsical witchy look.

What you will need for this witchy decor aesthetic:

  • Witches Hat
  • Wig
  • Witches Broom
  • Shawl
  • Witches Shoes
  • Masquerade Mask

Thrift Store Clothing

Visit your local thrift store or consignment shop to find dresses, skirts, velvet clothing, tall boots, shoes, furs, and more to dress your witchy decor mannequin.

How to Design A Mannequin Witch Silhouette

Witch Silhouette

Dress with Thrifted Women’s Fashion

Begin by dressing your mannequins with your new-found thrift store clothing.

I found a festive red dress for one of my witch silhouettes and a perfect black-and-white dress for another.

And I absolutely love these Tulle skirts for witchy decor mannequins.

I actually have three mannequins that I am dressing up for Halloween this year. One is a vintage store display mannequin, the other is a tall Amazon mannequin, and the third is a vintage tabletop mannequin.

Each will be dressed in a thrifted dress or a black Tulle skirt.

Wigs and Witch Hats

Choose your wigs and witch hats to characterize your mannequin’s personality. For my Halloween witchy decor, I selected a brunette, blonde, redhead, and simple witches’ hats, all from Amazon.

Make your own witch hat! I adore the ones Liz Marie shared in her blog post, DIY Witch Hats: Crafting Enchanting Decor in Two Unique Ways.

Witchy Decor Pro Tip

Since most mannequins do not have faces, I reversed the wigs to cover the area where the faces would normally be, creating a mysterious witchy decor vibe.

You could also tilt the wig and hat for a cocky witchy visual.

Or display it normally as if the mannequin had a face.

Witchy Decor Masquerade Mask

A masquerade mask, popularized initially in 15th-century Venetian balls, adds an air of mystery to witchy decor, seamlessly blending with the supernatural elements of a witchcore aesthetic.

Its intricate designs and ornate details can evoke an alluring, otherworldly presence, making it a perfect addition to new products in witchy home decor.

I had this old masquerade mask from Halloween’s past and added it to my black witchy decor mannequin for a bit more spookiness and character.

Masquerade masks could easily be coordinated with the wigs and hair color for a fantastic added aspect.

Witches Shawl

A witch’s shawl, often made with feathers, lace, or dark fabrics, is a key element in creating witchy decor, symbolizing the mystical connection between nature and the supernatural.

Draped over a mannequin, it enhances the sacred space and embodies the energy tied to zodiac signs and celestial influences. Who knew?

This decorative piece adds depth and texture, making the mannequin a striking focal point in any witchy decor setting.

This is where thrift shops and consignment stores come in handy. Look for old-fashioned minks, furs, feathered capes, shawls, and jackets to work your magic with.

Top the shawl off with a string of costume pearls or other favorite jewelry with zodiac signs, etc.

Witchy Decor Shoes

What’s more symbolic than the Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the North scrunched-up shoes?

To complete your witchy decor mannequins, select black boots and shoes, or choose from many witchy shoe options available on Amazon.

Witches Broom

The witch’s broom, often referred to as a “besom,” has deep historical roots tied to both practical and mystical uses.

In folklore, brooms were associated with female domesticity, but they also became symbols of witchcraft during the Middle Ages, when witches were believed to ride brooms through the night. This image likely arose from pagan rituals where brooms were used to sweep away negative energies, clearing sacred spaces for ceremonies.

The witch’s broom also symbolized a connection to nature and fertility, with some accounts suggesting that pagans would “ride” brooms during rituals to bless their crops. Over time, the broom became a powerful emblem of a witch’s ability to transcend physical boundaries, blending domestic tools with supernatural elements.

So, giving your witchy decor mannequins their very own witches’ broom is a crucial element of the witchcore aesthetic. I gave my witch mannequins stick brooms that I had from last year’s Halloween porch decor.

I tied twine around the top and bottom of the broom handle and shouldered it over the witchy decor mannequin. And with the long blonde wig, you can’t even see it.

Each witch’s broom is also tied with a velvet black bow.
