Chinoiserie Blue
What Is It? & Why You Need It!
Blue and white chinoiserie is a beautiful and timeless design style that combines elements of Chinese art and culture with a blue and white color palette. It originated in the 17th century when Chinese porcelain started to be imported to Europe, and it quickly became popular among the elite.
Blue chinoiserie, in particular, is noted for its striking use of blue and white, reminiscent of classic Chinese porcelain, often known as blue and white porcelain.
The color combination and the pictorial style have made it a timeless decorative choice that seems to never go out of fashion. From its early days in European palaces to its presence in contemporary homes, chinoiserie remains a beloved design element, celebrated for its ability to bring a touch of grace and history to any space.

Blue and White Chinoiserie Pots
I found these three blue and white chinoiserie pots this past summer at a garden center in New Hampshire.
And I thought how simple it would be to add a few evergreen branches to them for the winter.
The good news is that my neighbor recently removed an extensive evergreen branch that had fallen in his yard.
Now, it is covered in snow under our large Vermont Maple tree…
Bonus, as the snow adds to that evergreen winter-looking charm I was going for!
How cute and easy are these blue and white chinoiserie pots with evergreens?
I love them simply sitting on the corner steps of our front porch at our home here in Vermont.
You may also enjoy making these winter ice candle holders to go with them!
Then, these three blue and white chinoiserie pots with evergreens made their way onto my favorite second-hand table on the same porch.
It’s a bit chilly in Vermont in the winter, so this table serves only as a decorative piece during those months.
The blue and white chinoiserie pots with evergreens add a nice decorative feel to this empty table in the winter.
Watch it all here…

Blue and White Chinoiserie Style in the Mountains
The day after Christmas, I moved the blue-and-white chinoiserie pots and evergreens to our back deck, next to our hot tub.
What a statement piece these blue chinoiseries now make with the mountains as their backdrop.
A beautiful sense of tranquility.
This is such a simple way to change things up outside after the holidays.

Will these blue & white porcelain pieces freeze in winter’s outdoor cold temperatures? Mine have never frozen or cracked; I have used them outdoors for years. I can’t guarantee yours will not, but mine never have.
The key to incorporating blue and white chinoiserie into your interior design is to balance it with other elements and create a cohesive and harmonious overall design.
Whether you choose to incorporate chinoiserie subtly or make it a focal point, blue and porcelain pieces add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any space.
