7 Vintage-Inspired Finds for a Charming Spring Porch

Creating a vintage-inspired look for your spring porch can add a unique and charming touch. Here are several ideas to look for in a vintage haul to decorate your spring porch with:

  • Vintage Furniture: Look for vintage or antique furniture for your porch. Consider a wrought iron bistro set, a vintage rocking chair, or a wooden garden bench. These pieces will add character and create a cozy seating area.
  • Rustic Planters: Find vintage or repurposed planters to display your spring blooms. Look for old metal buckets, wooden crates, or vintage ceramic pots. Fill them with colorful flowers or lush green plants to add a touch of nature to your porch. See more in the White & Green Rustic Summer Flower Planters Sure To Charm You post.
  • Vintage Signs and Decor: Incorporate vintage signs and decor to create a nostalgic atmosphere. Look for old metal signs with floral or nature motifs, vintage lanterns, or antique bird cages. These pieces can be hung on walls or placed strategically around your porch.
  • Vintage Lighting: Use vintage lighting fixtures to add a warm and inviting glow to your porch. Look for old-fashioned lanterns, vintage-style string lights, or vintage-inspired sconces. These will create a cozy ambiance for evening gatherings.
  • Vintage Textiles: Add vintage textiles to your porch seating area for comfort and style. Look for vintage-inspired outdoor pillows with floral or botanical prints. Consider using vintage quilts or crochet blankets for added coziness on cool spring evenings.
  • Vintage Garden Tools: Display vintage garden tools as decorative elements on your porch. Hang old rakes, shovels, or watering cans on the wall, or place them in a vintage wheelbarrow as a unique focal point. These items will add a touch of nostalgia and rustic charm.
  • Vintage Tableware: For outdoor dining on your porch, use vintage tableware. Look for mismatched vintage plates, teacups, and silverware at thrift stores or flea markets. These charming pieces will add a whimsical touch to your spring meals.

Spring Thrifting Adventures in Vermont

Woohoo—our first sunny day in what feels like forever, and we finally hit 60 degrees here in Vermont! I couldn’t wait to get outside and soak it all in.

After weeks of dreaming about decorating our front porch for spring (and even getting caught in a surprise snowstorm the last time I tried—check out How To Create An Inviting Front Porch with Wicker Furniture for that snowy adventure), the sunshine had me itching to go thrifting.

So I grabbed the gals and headed to one of my favorite old stomping grounds, Stone House Antique Center in Chester, Vermont. There’s nothing like the thrill of the hunt on a blue-sky day to get the creative juices flowing.

I even filmed a little video to share the charm of this spot—and if you’re planning your own antiquing route, be sure to visit and bookmark Vintage & Thrift Shopping Guide: Vermont to Maine’s Best Finds for inspiration!

Focused Thrifting…with a Few Happy Detours

I headed out with a pretty focused thrifting list for our front porch—at least, that was the plan!

I’ve been really trying to stay on track this year. But when surrounded by so much inspiration, it’s easy to wander a bit—and that’s all part of the fun.

Here’s what I was hoping to find:
    •    A large, dark wooden trunk to use as a coffee and work table on the porch
    •    Heavy, dark wood side tables that can handle our Vermont winds
    •    Soft blue and white pillows and a quilted blanket
    •    A new-to-me vintage crock for floral arrangements
    •    Green and white dishes for spring entertaining

Of course, booths like this one completely captured my attention. I mean, wouldn’t a bench like this be perfect for the porch? And that charming old wooden kitchen utensil? It would look so cute in our Maine home. I even spotted a flyer that would make the cutest mini table. Love at first sight! And don’t get me started on the faux tulips—those would be perfectly styled in my vintage booth down at the Vintage Soul.

Vintage Wooden Side Tables for the Front Porch

I’m always on the hunt for sturdy side tables that can survive the seasons. Our porch is covered but faces strong winds and wild weather swings, so I’m looking for something heavy and grounded. I’d love to find dark wood tones to match our deck floor—something like that vintage wallpaper table I shared in this post.

Here are three side tables that caught my eye on this trip. What do you think? Which one would you choose for a covered spring porch?

Large Vintage Wooden Trunk

Trunks used to be everywhere, but lately, finding one that’s both large and tall enough has been a challenge. That is… until I wandered into my very last booth of the day—one of my longtime favorites—and boom! There it was. Big, sturdy, and exactly what I was looking for.

And the best part? Everything in the booth was 40% off. You know I couldn’t leave it behind!

Blue Pillows & a Crock – Vintage Haul Love

This vintage crock and pair of blue pillows totally stole my heart. I instantly imagined them on our green wicker porch furniture—blue and white against green? So good. And they were both 40% off. A major score!

Vintage Crock Collection – A New Beginning?

I’ve always admired antique crocks, but the prices can be steep. With this little gem marked down, I decided it’s finally time to start adding to my mother’s collection that we keep in Maine. There’s something so timeless about a simple crock filled with spring blooms.

You might remember the crocks of white tulips I styled last year here in Vermont—they were so lovely.

Vintage Lemonade Set – Because Spring is Calling

Okay, okay… I got a little off track. But can you blame me? This vintage lemonade set was just sitting there waiting for me! The green and pink set on the left? Gorgeous but $200+. The one on the right? A charming $19 steal—and now it’s mine.

Technically, it counts as green and white, right?

Vintage Finds for Future Porch Dreams

Every aisle of the antique store was brimming with inspiration—and while I couldn’t bring everything home, a few pieces definitely made me pause and daydream.

I spotted a beautiful silver bowl, a rustic pottery piece, and a pair of pewter lamps that would be absolutely stunning on a covered porch. I could just picture them flanking a vintage bench or sitting atop a sturdy side table. Unfortunately, I don’t think they’d stand up to Vermont’s unpredictable weather—but a girl can dream, right?

Blue and White Bedspread – A Cozy Final Find

Just as I was wrapping up my visit, I got lucky—this large blue and white throw caught my eye for just $55, and it was exactly what I’d been hoping to find. It’s thick enough to handle the elements on our porch and cozy enough to wrap around us on those early spring mornings. I can already picture it layered with the pillows and lemonade set—pure porch perfection.

I couldn’t resist styling the vintage crock and lemonade set on the new trunk right when I got home—and let me tell you, I’m already in love with how it’s coming together.

But for now, with the rain falling again (April showers really are doing their thing), I’m off to fluff and rearrange things in my Vintage Window Booth. There’s always a little something vintage to play with—even on a rainy day.

In Conclusion

Mixing and matching vintage pieces is the perfect way to create a porch that feels both curated and full of character.

Don’t be afraid to get creative—repurposing unexpected finds can lead to the most charming results.

With just a few thoughtful vintage treasures, you can transform your spring porch into a unique and welcoming space that captures the spirit of the season.
