Simple Wooden Toolbox Decorating Ideas

Wooden toolboxes can be a versatile and charming decor item in your home. Here are some creative ideas to incorporate wooden toolboxes into your decor:

  • Rustic Centerpiece: Fill a wooden toolbox with mason jars and use it as a centerpiece on your dining table. Add fresh flowers, herbs, or even small succulents to create a rustic and natural look. Wooden toolboxes make great foundations for table centerpieces.
  • Bathroom Organizer: Use a wooden toolbox to organize your bathroom essentials. Place it on the countertop or hang it on the wall to store items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other toiletries. You can also paint or stencil the toolbox to match your bathroom decor.
  • Kitchen Utensil Holder: A wooden toolbox keeps your kitchen utensils organized and within reach. Place it on your kitchen counter or hang it on the wall. It adds a rustic touch to your kitchen and keeps your utensils easily accessible.
  • Garden Planter: Turn a wooden toolbox into a mini garden planter. Line the bottom with plastic or a waterproof liner, add potting soil, and plant your favorite herbs or small flowering plants. It can be placed on a windowsill or used as a centerpiece on an outdoor table.
  • Office Organizer: Use a wooden toolbox to organize your desk essentials. Store pens, pencils, scissors, and other office supplies in the compartments of the toolbox, which adds a vintage touch to your workspace.
  • Bookshelf Decor: To add visual interest to your bookshelf, place a wooden toolbox on it and use it as a decorative item. You can fill it with small potted plants, books, or other decorative objects.

Thrifted Wooden Toolbox

Today, I’m sharing an old wooden toolbox, which I found while I was out Thrifting with the Gals on my way back from Maine. We had just had our first nor’easter of the winter, just in time for Christmas. Have you ever been thrifting in the snow? Join me here to see more of my day thrifting in the snow!

These two large wooden toolboxes caught my eye. I’ve seen vintage wooden toolboxes before, but never as long and large as these were. I couldn’t resist picking one up to decorate for today’s blog hop!

The toolbox fits perfectly onto our large farmhouse table in the dining room. After the holidays, I like to keep my decor simple and cozy. And I really felt like this wooden toolbox made a pretty big statement all on its own.

I started by adding some mixed blue and white plates to the toolbox, along with some battery-operated twinkle lights. That was it! I love how simple this wooden toolbox centerpiece is, and I can change out the dishes, etc., as I choose.

Keeping with a simple wooden toolbox theme, I added my favorite brass candlestick with a short tapered candle, some extra dishes, and a bowl to round out the table decor.

Vintage Mantel

The vintage mantel is the backdrop for the table and is decorated with faux trees leftover from Christmas, along with homemade orange slices that will last throughout the winter. I really enjoy the color they add to this room.

Brass candlesticks are a favorite of mine to decorate and accentuate my decor with. I love the vintage look and texture. I found these on various thrifting adventures and also in collections on Etsy. I have well over a dozen now!
